Reverend David M. Dudley was born in Michigan, but moved to the South when he was
five. After a few years in Alabama, his family settled in a small college town
in Mississippi, where his parents still live today. David attended Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. While there he studied psychology, astronomy and world religions, eventually earning his Bachelors Degree in Religion in 1976. In 1977, David entered Union Seminary in Richmond, VA. After his second year, he married fellow classmate Kathryn Mitchell. Four weeks later they flew to Korea for a Volunteer-In-Mission year. After graduating from Union in 1981, David accepted a call to Maysville and New Store Presbyterian Churches in Buckingham, Virginia and served there as pastor for three years. In 1984, David and Kathryn were sent to Taiwan as Mission Coworkers of the newly-reunited PCUSA. They spent the next eight years in new church development among Taiwan's Hakka minority. While there they adopted their son, Sam, and Kathryn gave birth to their daughter, Janet. The couple returned to the United States in 1993. From 1993 until 2006, David served as co-pastor (for eight years) and solo pastor (for five years) at Sweetwater Presbyterian Church in Hickory, NC. In August, 2006, David joined Pocket Presbyterian Church as our pastor! |
